It all started when Calvina was in college and she travelled to Central Asia for a cultural exchange program. That trip changed the way she saw herself and the way she saw the world. She was compelled to start a journal that documented all the little things that she saw, from the houses made of dirt and dung to the beautiful instruments that hung from the little shops passed down for generations and generations. She saw people who lived in the happiness of their families while tormented by the oppression of their political climate. All these things touched her and compelled her to tell stories.
Now with a camera in her hands and the knowledge that an image speaks a thousand words, she is set out to not only tell stories, but to give a voice to those who do not have one.
